Get your vintage fix with our Japanese glass mala! These amazing beads are from the 1950s when General MacArthur was in Japan to help rebuild Japan’s economy after WWII. During this time American jewelers ask Japanese artisans to make glass beads and cabochons like those produced in Czechoslovakia during the 1920s and 1930s. The Japanese artisans were full time rice farmers who set up workshops in their homes. These artisans came together and sold their products under the name Cherry Brand. These beads were only made during the time Americans were in Japan to rebuild the economy from 1945 to 1952.
